Aug 10 (Reuters) - Cano Health (CANO.N) said on Thursday there is substantial doubt about the company's ability to continue as a going concern within one year, sending shares down about 48% after the bell. Under its restructuring plan, the company expects to lower costs by reducing 17% of its current workforce, about 700 employees, in the third quarter of 2023. The company's medical cost ratio — or spending on claims as a percentage of premiums — rose to 103.5% in the quarter, compared with 82.6% a year earlier. Cano shareholders, including Cooperstone, Gold & Sternlicht, had issued an open letter in April highlighting an urgent need for leadership changes. The company's revenue for the quarter ended June 30 was $766.75 million, below analysts' average estimate of $828.44 million, according to Refinitiv data.

BOGOTA, July 27 (Reuters) - Colombian police have seized property and bank accounts worth 1.3 trillion pesos ($329 million), proceeds from the sale and export of stolen crude oil, officials said on Thursday. To sell the stolen oil, criminal groups mixed it with legally-bought crude so it could be exported via front companies, police said. Colombia's majority state-owned oil company Ecopetrol (ECO.CN) was the main victim of the scheme, costing it 60 billion pesos, police added. The gangs stole crude from Colombia's Cano Limon-Covenas pipeline which runs parallel to the border with Venezuela. Furthermore, "large quantities" of light Venezuelan crude were brought into Colombia before being mixed with Colombian oil and exported via the Cano Limon-Covenas pipeline, the statement said.

Colombia Cano Limon-Covenas oil pipeline bombed
  + stars: | 2023-05-30 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +1 min
BOGOTA, May 30 (Reuters) - Colombia's Cano Limon-Covenas pipeline was bombed by unknown actors, operator Cenit said in a statement on Tuesday, prolonging the suspension of pumping crude between oil fields in the country's northeast and the Caribbean coast, where the oil is exported. Colombia's military is working to secure the area, Cenit added. Pumping along the pipeline has been suspended since April 14 due to other attacks. Restarting operations will depend on the military's ability to secure the area where the attacks took place while repairs continue. The Cano Limon-Covenas pipeline, which can transport up to 210,000 barrels of oil per day and runs along Colombia's northern border with Venezuela, was attacked 13 times last year, leading to fires and contamination of the surrounding area.

Colombia's Ecopetrol criticizes new attacks on oil pipeline

Companies Ecopetrol SA FollowCenit Ag FollowBOGOTA, March 22 (Reuters) - Colombia's majority state-owned oil company Ecopetrol (ECO.CN) on Wednesday criticized new attacks against an oil pipeline run by its subsidiary Cenit, saying the attacks harm the country's population and the economy. The Cano Limon-Covenas pipeline has been the target of five attacks by armed groups and two installations of illicit valves so far this year, Ecopetrol said in a statement. Colombia's oil infrastructure is the frequent target of theft and attacks by leftist rebels. Thousands of barrels of oil are stolen from pipelines each day, refined into bootleg fuels and used in making cocaine. In early March, an attack on an oil pipeline led to environmental damage near a refinery in the Colombian city of Barrancabermeja.

The new rules adopted by both GOP-led chambers effectively shield members and their staff from public records requests, making investigations into any potential wrongdoing far more difficult. The exemptions from public records laws and the ability to destroy emails after 90 days apply to both chambers. Because the chambers adopted the changes via rule changes, not legislation, Republicans were able to bypass the need for Democratic Gov. Legislatures having the ability to shield themselves from public records laws is not unheard of. Minnesota, Iowa, Oklahoma and Massachusetts also have laws in place effectively exempting state legislators from public records requests, according to record request nonprofit MuckRock, though it remains exceedingly common for lawmakers in states where such exemptions don't explicitly exist to avoid complying with public records laws.
